What does the 5-year Dentistry Program include?

In the first two years, the curriculum at Semmelweis University is similar to that of medical students, covering foundational subjects such as anatomy, biochemistry, and physiology, with dental propaedeutic courses included to introduce basic dental concepts and skills early in the programme. From the third year onwards, dental subjects take on greater importance, with a significant increase in the number of specialised practices. Students engage in more hands-on dental procedures and techniques, focusing on areas such as dental anatomy, materials science, and operative dentistry. The fourth year places further emphasis on advanced dental subjects and clinical practice, providing extensive experience in clinical settings where students perform various dental treatments under supervision. The final year is dedicated to intensive clinical practice and preparation for professional practice, ensuring students complete their education with comprehensive hands-on experience. Throughout the programme, students have opportunities to participate in research projects and select elective courses that align with their interests and career goals.
